One of the things that bugs me at this point, is it’s been like two years coming, and these business are still largely reliant on the USA market. Like if you’re a business owner, and your one major trading region is a dumpster fire, and you just let it burn for two years, what the fuck?
It’s sorta like people who rebuild homes in areas prone to natural disasters like floods / hurricanes etc. You can see the history, you have no reason to think that the trend is going to reverse, you know all your shits gonna get wrecked, but you just keep pretending like it’s all fine.
2 years to prepare, and now they dont even mention TRYING to pivot or find other business. They just throw up their hands and say “we bankrupt”
there’s always articles about fake chinese honey in the canadian market… so clearly there is a market share available domestically for canadian honey take
Digging into it, they started building a direct to consumer when this all started, but they have always been a commercial operation, selling to companies that repackage so they had little ability to pivot quickly.
My first thought was a “leopards ate my face” situation, but reality does point to a legit casualty.
