I assumed it’s because the crown corp running the park system was a huge cost to the government, which would come under fire in other provinces. But from Sépaq’s 2025 financial statment (PDF, in french) their income was $261.8 million and their expenses were $261.3 million giving them a profit of $459,000 which they say they reinvest into parks. Even small government advocates would have a hard time arguing this crown corp should be privatized.
Totally agree. If he had said what you said then I’d say he was a cool guy. However, he didn’t say the law was unjust or that he would change the law if he had the power to do so. He said that Carney and the Liberals are criminals who are “defying the laws of this country”. I’d expect shallow rhetoric like that from the Conservative leader.
Hiring temporary workers to protect life and property is allowed. The workers on strike are the bank’s security staff. Seems like hiring private security during the strike would be allowed under the current law.

From some quick searching, it seems like Maple Leaf Foods is majority owned by Canadian investors and the majority of their operations are in Canada. It also looks like they only have one factory that focuses on plant-based products and it’s one of their US locations.
The article says he wants to get rid of the “lieutenant general”, but that’s the federal government. The provinces each have a lieutenant governor.
