Opensense is based on BSD, which has a single threaded network stack. This means that low end CPUs can struggle to do >1gbit throughputs. Depending on your WAN this could be an issue.

Sure, but the point of getting a mini-pc is usually not that you have an open case with a second ATX PSU sitting on top to power some extra hardrives.
How will you power the drives?
And from what I have heard, these m2 to SATA adapters have over-heating issues.
You mean “mid” as in midi-tower? Because that sounds like the large version. Well maybe there is an even larger workstation version or so, but the normal medium sized Optiplex comes with one 3.5" SATA bay and one DVD drive.
Optiplex etc. with an Intel 8th gen “T” chips seem to offer the best bang for the buck + energy efficiency on the second hand market right now.
The main issue with these thin clients is the lack of SATA ports and power connections for them if you want to add some larger 2.5” SSD/HDD storage. Usually it is only one, but you can also use the DVD drive slot with an adapter in the mid sized versions.

Afaik that was mentioned as the plan in the Euro-office announcement post, but OnlyOffice has been designed for maximum compatibility with the Microsoft formats and .odf support is only an afterthough.

Nice that you are so self aware 😅

I have not looked at the CVEs in Rsync specifically, but given the deludge of “critical” security issue found by AI lately that have been mostly nothing burgers, I am near certain the same applies to those included in that Rsync patchset.

The ones in Nginx and the Linux kernel.

The “critical” bugs that I have recently seen being found by AI were all extremely unlikely to be exploitable under realistic assumptions 🤷

They could have just refused merging slop. Rsync didn’t need these “contributions”.

Taking a project that works fine and making it actively worse by introducing AI made bugs is imho a valid reason to hard fork. The maintainer might not owe you anything, but it shows very poor judgement to slopify a good project like rsync this way.
Install a newer Linux distro on it and run a Luanti server for the kids to play on.
The app itself might be fine, but you are either using the Mozilla services or the backend written by Mozilla. Sadly Mozilla has lost all the good will it had and is just another silicon valley AI company these days, and seems to prefer it that way.
That’s from Mozilla, another AI company…
I found this article much better: https://wiki.alopex.li/DitchingDiscord
The OP article seems like a promotion for Matrix with only a cursory and not very well informed look at other options.
Also both articles glance over serious recent efforts to modernize IRC, such as https://github.com/ObsidianIRC/ObsidianIRC and https://codeberg.org/emersion/goguma which in combination with a Mumble server is also a real Discord alternative.

https://f-droid.org/packages/se.lublin.mumla is not so bad as a mobile client for Mumble.
But why a new Discord server? 🤦
