Yeah, it definitely sounds like a co-opted article, because America is losing the AI race to China (the script was already in play for us Americans to lose due to proprietary models).

It’s a call for the Chinese AI models to be banned because of how good they are.

China’s models are surprising good at what they do. The US government is looking to ban them from use for “mUh nAtIoNaL sEcUrItY”.

Bullspit.

People really should be doubting these mainstream journos, because they have the integrity of a Call of Duty fanboy who services the corn on the cob of Activision suits. This is especially true for the Economist, which is a Jesuit front organization telling us what they’re going to do to us (and we accept it by even buying a subscription to that dump).

Regardless of that, the trap is that America’s AI dominance is only because of proprietary models, while FOSS models are superior to the proprietary slop that’s put out.

If he goes through with this, just like they did with that AI algorithm a few years back, then that would be good for the people who use that dump.

That literally sounds like a social credit score system that’s FOSS, and verifiable.

I still wouldn’t trust it, though.
