NGL, the picture catched me, so it did its job. What is the tool, though, that you’re using to generate the posters?

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What to do after getting a domain name?English
1·1 month agoNormally you could directly use the IPv6 of the corresponding server. They’re unique and made to enable connections directly to machines instead of routers. The router has to allow the passage, though.
Ngl, with how often I just read “Cloudflare Tunnels/Zero Trust” this sounds like an ad.
A shitty ad like Chuck Testa.

2·2 months agoI have also like quite some domains.
One just firstnamelastname to have it
One for homelabbing
One for business
One, because I thoght firstname@lastname.email was a cool idea. Now all my accounts run through it and I cannot change it anymore :/
One for my old startup, where I just like the name to much
One for another old business, but my mailserver runs through that domain, and it is too much of a bother to change that 😅
So, remember folks: don’t buy too many domains, it becomes a liability.

3·2 months agoFor me, it was more the quality of search than privacy concerns. The latter I could mitigate, as you wrote.
But, oh man, the search quality on Kagi is so much better than everywhere else. The ability to just outright block domains in results, chef’s kiss.

2·2 months agoYeah, its kinda funny. I have this friend who watches his stuff on shitty, sketchy streaming sites with three pixels.
I’m like: here, you can stream in 1080p, no ads, no malware, go for it it.
He: proceeds with 3p, never logs in.
I wonder whether the login is the hurdle.

1·2 months agoI’d argue that “more practical” hobbies are just the zeitgeist.
I don’t know anybody my age with a garden with only “beautiful flowers”. Everybody tries to grow some vegetables, something practical. Which my mother did never understand, she had this big ass garden where you could eat nothing. It is a beautiful garden, granted, but “only” for the looks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But the internet is down, so how can they google?

1·2 months agoI have the low tech physical copy storing: I have one of those fancy stamps which count up 1 after every stamp (called Numbering machine). I just stamp every letter I want to keep a physical copy of, scan it and everything goes into the same folder. When I search for an original I pull it up digitally and search in the folder 👍
Quickest way I figured.
No, your services stay basically untouched. They still need to deliver their content via a webserver. But instead of delivering it straight to your browser, they now pass it to your reverse proxy (caddy), which delivers it to you.
