I thought he was going to rewrite the entire stack. He said with 100% confidence that that’s what was needed. He even got incredibly angry when someone asked him to explain what was wrong with the existing stack and which parts would be rewritten.
I definitely agree. Lol. But I also totally understand using Discord. I assume the community isn’t meant exclusively for people who currently self host, but also for people interested in starting to. In that regard, Discord will most likely be what those people have and are willing to use.
Even if they weren’t abandoned, you shouldn’t use them.

Do not set up multiple APs. Use a real mesh network designed to be used together.
Multiple APs with the same SSID will not only interfere with each other, they will hold on to clients for way longer than they should, meaning as you walk around the house, you’ll have super weak connections, even if you’re close to the next AP.
Mesh networks talk to each other over a lower band to coordinate both interference and clients, so they work way better.
If you must have a specific router, just use it as a router, and set up the mesh router and satellites in AP mode.
That one is good, but it doesn’t have strict licensing restrictions like the SciActive one. Basically you have to follow the policy with the SciActive one, or you lose the license to use the seal.
Also, the SciActive one is specifically for software projects and covers the full software project explicitly.
Not that the Brain Made one is bad, it just fits a different use case (art, poetry, etc).

A decade? Email has been around longer than the web. Roughly forty years.
If you have your own domain, you won’t ever have to migrate addresses, just possibly providers.
This really saddens me. Email is such a fundamentally good and open protocol. The only reason people don’t like it is because of big tech’s shenanigans.
I run an email service called Port87. I invite you to try it and see if it can convince you that email is actually a great technology, when detached from big tech slop. It’s got some really killer features that make it great for organization and preventing spam. You can also tell it that on certain addresses, it should completely ignore the strict auth requirements it usually has, so it will accept email from your own services without you having to set up all the extra bullshit that’s meant for stuff that matters more.
Wow. That’s a really nice font. I’m gonna have to think of a new project just to use this font. I’ve been thinking of making an open source notes app based on the Port87 editor and app. There’s just no good open source notes app. They’re all annoying and bad in some way or another. So much so that my wife uses OneNote. If I could get her off of that, I’d consider it a massive win.
