I don’t doubt there’s waste in the government and bureaucratic red tape, but I’ll take waste on that side rather than the same amount going into lining some rich fuckers pockets.

Clearly it must be tax waste, and not thing like regulation of stuff like the building code, health code, additional servicing/maintenance costs with public infrastructure only installed in the 70s and later, higher living and service expectations from all branches of government, longer and longer lifespan meaning higher costs associated with old age care.

To anyone reading this, I’d remind you that local politics are THE MOST important. You can far more easily get local politicians in who are extremely progressive, and begin movement from there. The lack of parties means its much simpler to run, and most people don’t even bother voting. Plus those changes can have drastic impacts on what you see and do on a daily basis.

People here lean left more than most other places. Carney is, without a doubt, more right leaning than Trudeau, who many already struggled with his neolib policies. Shifting FURTHER into those policies isn’t going to make this place like him

I honestly can’t see how people defend the TFW program. It artificially suppresses wages of low-income Canadians and pads the pockets of large corporations.
