Montreal city council is expected to vote this week on a proposed bylaw that would allow members of the public to be fined for insulting police officers and other municipal workers.
“You insult me by speaking English.”
Yeah, I can see how this could go wrong quickly.
Couldn’t you just aggressively compliment someone? Do they have sarcasm in Canada? Then they can start evaluating intent, maybe sone kind of thought police? Grammaton Clerics?
It gets trickier than that… an insult in French might be an innocent remark in English and vice versa.
Fuck the Police. All Cops Are Bastards.
Maybe they could table law where if you bash a reporters head in you go to jail and lose your job and the officers on the scene that did not stop it from happening get suspended WITHOUT pay.
