Trump says he’s taking action to bar Canadian-made products from eligibility for certain U.S. government purchasing contracts.

In a post to his Truth Social platform, Trump said he is directing the General Services Administration — the independent agency that oversees federal government procurement — to remove Canadian-origin products from its “multiple award schedules.”

Those schedules account for more than $50 billion US worth of procurement per year, said Trump, but it’s unclear how much of that is made up of Canadian goods.

“The Canadian Government, including Canadian Provinces, have banned American Small Businesses and Companies from selling into their Government Procurement Markets,” said Trump in the post. “From now on, NO RECIPROCITY – NO ACCESS!”

Trump said the removal would stay in place “unless Canada restores full and fair reciprocity for American Farmers and Companies.”

Scrap the pipeline, and build the refinery to handle it all ourselves instead of sending our crude to Texas.

Conservatives will on one hand say the energy transition to renewables isn’t happening or needed, and at the same time explain how refineries take so long to become profitable we can’t afford to build our own.

If it weren’t for double standards they wouldn’t have any.

I don’t want american ecoli-tainted steroid-pumped antibiotic-resistant genetically modfied dairy, grains, produce, or meats anyway.

The less we have of anything american the better.

    Canada should do the same.

However I’ll point out the US (DoD was my experience) already has a point system for procurement which would penalised a Canadian company’s bid. So saying don’t buy Canadian is a but redundant since they already have a police slanted against doing so.

Canada doesn’t. It would have been against free trade and we would have been punished under the appeals process.

      Canada should do the same.

Most provinces have already done that.

And predictably, the Americans have whined no fair and called it a “trade irritant”.
