I know this has been said before, but I think it needs to said again. We can boycott things like Kellogg’s or whatever American product we want, and those are great ways to do so, but they’re smaller hits.
But to really hit America where it hurts, we need to boycott the following en masse:
1.) Walmart outright boycott. They’ll be pissed when their stores here sit empty and will complain to the orange nut job about it.
2.)Amazon. Full stop. You have prime. Cancel. You use their services? Stop.
3.) Costco. This one is painful for a lot, but will send a major signal to the U.S. They are most likely the best of the 3 companies I’ve mentioned since they treat their employees well and have stood up to Trump. They’re still American and we as a country are still at war with them.
4.) Streaming services: They’ve threatened our national language and they’ve threatened us when we instituted a digital tax. Vote with your wallet. If you have these services, just cancel them. You can find what you need in other ways. Netflix / Apple TV / Prime / HULU / etc - cancelled
Yes it sucks. Yes it’s hard, but those companies need to feel pain. If not they’ll carry on because our money is going to their profit. The shareholders don’t care. Americans are beholden to their shareholders. Make them feel the pain.
We can give up convenience for a bit. Maybe as we give these services up, some Canadians will come in a build out some of these services.
This is an economic war waged by a rapist and an administration that think we don’t deserve to be a country.
Let’s prove them wrong.
Cancel your memberships or don’t renew and divert your money away from them. This is especially true for Costco whose membership fees are a massive part of their income structure.
We don’t keep our independence by feeding the American oligarch machine.

Yes, I understand that Canadian corps are not much better, but we can at least fight them easier than the U.S. if we need to.
I think it is very telling that you think people choose to use cheaper options. Of all things people have control over where they spend money, groceries is about the worst place to start. Like, have you seen what Loblaws or Sobeys costs? No Frills is even too expensive anymore. Costco is like, the only place in this country where many people can afford to buy enough food for an entire family; fuckin even the pharmacy products are a third of the price there oftentimes.
Streaming services and Amazon, sure, I stopped using both years ago because streaming is too expensive already and Amazon has been evil for much longer than Trump has been in office (either time), but I also know many people don’t know how to use alternatives to these, which means they’ll continue using them. Ive met people who think I’m taking a bigger risk pirating everything than what’s worth just paying for Disney Plus. There’s dudes in this country who make money setting up and maintaining Android Boxes for rubes who don’t know it’s just an app you can download and setup in about ten minutes with an online guide.
I know this isn’t the best community for this, but this is why boycotting is not a super effective tactic. They don’t usually adopt a level of class consciousness or understanding that these companies are dominant because they’re already coercive. Walmart’s entire business strategy is to parasitically starve out local grocers and then hike up prices in what is essentially (or then literally) a food desert, many people use them because they cannot afford something else. For me, Costco is the more “ethical” option because I can afford to go there and they actually pay their employees something, and it’s not like I can afford Canadian grocers in this fuckass racket.
If you’re relying on middle-class people who spend money frivolously to change, you can expect maybe two or three months out of them before they quietly just do what they’ve always done.
